Do you have a pregnant mare? Exciting times lie ahead! Now you can go to bed without worries, because Birth Alarm will warn you when the moment of delivery is approaching. For many centuries there has been a close bond between humans and horses - a bond that is both economic and emotional. Anyone who's breeding horses is familiar with these sentiments. When you have one or more pregnant mares, exiting times lie ahead. Your horse needs a familiar environment and peace and quite, while you want to be present when the foal is being born as you want to make sure that nothing goes wrong. However, it is difficult to predict the exact time of the birth'the birth can be postponed when the mare does nog feel at ease. The Birth alarm offers the ideal solution! The Birth Alarm is a wonderful example of how technology can make the lives of hu;mans and animals safer and more comfortable.
How does it work?
During labour, a mare usually lies completely on her flanks, wich is the thepical position for the birhing porsceess. In this sideways position she is able to deal better with the contractions. The Birth Alarm responds to the contractions. The system contsistis a transmidtter and a receiver. The Transmitter is attached to an anti antiroll girth that is placed around the mars's withers without bothering the horse in any way. When the horse lies in the typical birthing posititon (laying on her side), the transmitter starts timing and gives an alarm singnal when 7,6 seconds have past. Scientific research shows that a contraction at least takes up to 7,6 seconds. So at this point it is virtually cirtain that it is an contraction and your mare is going into labour.
