Into the spring with VITALstyle!

The days are getting longer, the birds are singing, and the horses are already exchanging their winter coats for a lovely summer coat. In other words, spring is just around the corner! Want to know how you can support your horse as much as possible with natural products during this lovely but intensive period? In this blog, VITALstyle advises you on their (spring) products!

Clean into the spring
The beginning of spring (between March and May) is the ideal time to clean up your horse. During the winter period, your horse or pony may have accumulated a lot of waste products in its body, for example due to a reduced metabolism and/or resistance, worming or when it has had (a lot of) medication such as antibiotics and painkillers. It is then a good idea to break down these accumulated waste products and get rid of them with DetoxMix, the herbal treatment to support the changing seasons. Is your horse prone to summer itch? Then DetoxMix is very important prior to this period.

In addition, if your horse has been in the (sand) paddock all winter, it is wise to give a preventive Psyllium Seed cure. Many horses ingest (too much) sand when they are in a sand paddock, which can cause problems. In fact, some horses eat sand out of boredom or as a natural reaction to mineral deficiencies. Sand can also come along with the hay, especially if it is fed on the ground. Psyllium Seed supports the removal of sand naturally.

Keep up your horse's resistance
For most horse owners, spring equals flying hairs when brushing. The shedding period is intense for horses and costs them a lot of energy. On average, shedding takes several weeks, but this of course depends on the thickness and the coat. Older horses or horses with reduced resistance, e.g. due to illness, can sometimes have trouble shedding. Extra support is indispensable here! With ImmunoBoost you give your horse an extra boost for a smooth transition to spring and a strong resistance. ImmunoBoost increases vitality and supports horses that could use a resistance boost.

In addition, many horse owners also give Linseed Oil when shedding. Linseed Oil does not directly speed up shedding, but it does provide extra energy and ultimately a healthy shiny coat. Horses that have access to fresh grass often get enough fatty acids. If your horse is not (yet) at pasture, it is certainly advisable to supplement the ration with linseed oil.

Dangers of the first bites of grass
As much as we would like to get our horses out to pasture as soon as the weather permits, this is not always wise. The grass in spring can contain a lot of sugar (fructan), which horses cannot handle well. Especially sober breeds cannot process this well, which can be a major health risk. Is your horse or pony sensitive to varying sugar levels in the grass? Then SugarBalance is the optimal support! SugarBalance is a liquid supplement that supports sugar and fat metabolism, helping to maintain healthy blood sugar levels. It is also a good addition to the ration in case of a hard mane comb, as support for good hoof health when grazing or for overweight horses.

In addition, Bowel Balance is a fine support during the transition from paddock to pasture. The intestinal flora often gets out of balance due to changes in feed, such as from hay in the paddock to grass in the field. Bowel Balance then helps keep digestion and intestinal flora in balance.

Something is in the air...
The flowering period in spring and the dry conditions in summer create a lot of dust and pollen flying around. Perhaps you notice it yourself. Like you, your horse could use some support during this period! LungVital contains a powerful herbal combination (including fenugreek and aniseed) that helps maintain healthy airways. It allows horses to breathe more freely and soothes a tickle in the throat.

Suggestion from VITALstyle: make a note of the periods when your horse suffers most, that way you will know exactly when to start using LungVitaal next year!
