Warranty Horse Rugs
At HypoStore, our horse rugs and accessories come with a full warranty against manufacturing defects and issues such as loose stitching. This warranty is valid for up to 1 year from the date of purchase, provided the original purchase receipt is presented. For rugs that have not been stored or washed according to the guidelines, the warranty is void. Some brands like Horseware (Rambo, Amigo) and Bucas offer extended warranties of 2 or 3 years after registration. When washing rugs, it's essential to consider that the water-repellent coating may wear off faster, requiring maintenance with products like Bucas Rug Conditioner.
Damage caused by wear and tear, improper fit, or external elements such as sharp objects, other horses, rubbing, washing, or similar incidents is not covered under the warranty.
This includes rugs that are completely torn apart, have small or large tears, or damages on the outside or inside. Horses are exceptionally strong, and even the sturdiest Rambo or Bucas rugs can be easily damaged if caught on something. Rug closures and surcingles are designed to break or detach at a certain force to prevent the horse from injuring itself.
Waterproof
After heavy rain, we often receive reports of rugs from various brands like Rambo, Amigo, Master, and Bucas being non-waterproof. However, in over 90% of cases, these rugs are found to be waterproof after factory testing. With today's modern rug fabrics, it's rare for a rug to be genuinely non-waterproof without any visible damage. Therefore, we ask you to pay attention to the following, especially after heavy rain showers, to avoid unnecessarily being without your rug for several days.
- For every outdoor rug, including top brands like Bucas and Rambo, water can penetrate at the edges and seams with stitching; it is impossible to achieve 100% waterproofing.
- After washing the rug, it must always be treated again with a back conditioner.
- No rug is entirely waterproof at the shoulder gussets and tail flap; the seam at the tail flap cannot be taped on the inside.
- Water can also enter at the neck, potentially spreading under the rug lining. This can be partially prevented with a neck cover.
- Sometimes wet spots may be present just behind the edges of the rug as the lining dries faster along the edges.
- In high humidity, rugs may feel damp inside as most linings attract moisture.
- In heavy rain and wind, rain can hit under the rug.
- Occasionally, the rug may get wet after removal from the horse because the warm rug attracts moisture.
- Water can penetrate at the seams of the tail flap and at the back of the rug because a horse always stands with its rear against the wind.
- White spots on the inside of the rug are a clear signal that the rug is too warm; the horse has sweated under the rug.
- If the rug suddenly becomes completely soaked inside, the horse has likely been lying down, causing the rug to soak through.
How can I test if the rug is still waterproof?
To test this, place the rug over a box or bucket and pour half a glass of water over the part you suspect is no longer waterproof. Let it stand for a few minutes. This is an extreme test as such a situation rarely occurs during normal use. If the rug remains dry after a few minutes, it is still waterproof. Do not perform this test on the seams, shoulder gussets, or tail flap, as these areas are not waterproof under the pressure of a significant amount of water.
If the rug fails this test, please contact [email protected] for a warranty request.
When returning, horse rugs must be clean and dry. Charges will apply for cleaning dirty rugs.
