MATERIALS FOR OPTIMAL SAFETY
The XJ helmet is designed to meet active and passive safety requirements for extreme disciplines such as cross-country and racing. Such requirements are more important in these sports than in dressage and jumping; a specific certification is required to participate in international competitions within these disciplines: the PAS015 standard.
This standard is required to increase the thickness of the inner and outer layer and necessarily creates more weight.
Therefore, with the XJ helmet, Samshield has opted for an external shell made of pure carbon fiber, a composite material with an unbeatable strength-to-weight ratio.
The XJ helmet is also certified to the CE EN1384 (Europe), BS EN 1384:2012 (United Kingdom) and SEI/ASTM F1163 (United States) standards.
The inner shell is made of variable density polystyrene that ensures better dissipation of the energy produced in a collision.
STABILITY
The internal comfort foam (liner) with "shape memory" ensures a constant thickness during the years of use and the semi-flexible neck strap avoids any risk of tipping over in the event of a sudden movement.
This internal comfort foam is removable thanks to a much stronger clip system than the scratch/clasp system.
The liner can be washed (max. 30 °C), thus ensuring a constantly clean and fresh helmet.
PERFECT SIZE ADJUSTMENT FOR UNPARALLELED COMFORT
A thorough anthropomorphic study led to a shell shape on the inside with an unmatched fitting comfort design.
There are 2 shell sizes available (M and L).
Each shell accommodates 5-6 foam layers (liners) of different sizes on the inside for a perfect fit to the rider's head.
The liners are available from size 53 to 61. With this system it is also possible to follow the growth of a young rider.
INCREDIBLE INTERNAL AIRFLOW
The XJ helmet provides exceptional ventilation because it is equipped with two air intakes on the front. Fresh air is channeled through the entrance under the blazon and the channel created thanks to a unique concept where the helmet does not make contact with the rider's forehead *.
Fresh air expels warm air to extractors at the back around the comfort foam (liners), making sweating impossible!
This concept provides strong internal airflow and avoids the need for visible and unsightly air intakes.
There are 2 types of liners available:
- Liner "Closed" (closed at the level of the forehead): provides additional stability.
- Liner "Open" (open at forehead level): provides optimal airflow.
The liner is free with the purchase of a Samshield XJ cap, see recommended products.
