DeTrust baby pelham with brass rings has smaller shanks than a normal pelham, the longer the shank is the more levarage the rider obtains. TheTrust Sweet Iron bits have a sweet taste wich will encourage a beter acceptance of the bit. When pressure is placed on the reins the mouthpiece breaks at the join. This creates an angle which gives the tongue more room than with a double jointed pelham or a straight pelham.

The pelham bit:
The pelham bit has elements of both a curb bit and a snaffle bit. It can be used instead of a double bridle when the horses mouth is to small for a double bridle or when it is just a very strong horse. You can ride the pelham bit whit one or two reins. The curb chain can be tightened depending on the horse’s needs and uses pressure on the chin groove to gain a reaction from the horse. While sounding harsh, when properly fitted this bit is great for sensitive horses that tend to become heavy. The pelham bit is not apropriate for unexperienced riders.
The trust bit types,The Sweet Iron:
Sweet iron will rust when it comes into contact with (air) humidity; the surface rust tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the saliva production. This will cause the horse to salivate more which in turn encourages better acceptance of the bit. The rusting process (oxidation) changes the blue colour of the TRUST-bit to a brownish-grey.If a sweet iron bit is not used for a while, an orange-brown rust layer may develop on the mouthpiece. Simply remove this by wiping the bit with a damp cloth.
