A few months ago, we went looking for a tester for the LeMieux Kudos Turnout 50gr rug. After many applications, Femke Boerma-Maats won the rug and had the opportunity to test it for us. After several months of using the rug, Femke could tell us how much she and her horse like it so far.
The LeMieux Kudos rug is the ultimate in comfort and protection for your horse. With an innovative, advanced front cut and front neck padding, greater comfort and movement is achieved, especially for low-level grazing. With the revolutionary, patented two-piece skirt system and deep shoulder pads to eliminate tension around the front of the rug and allow for a greater range of motion.
The central panel straightens the rug itself and provides maximum protection from the elements. The angled front closure has a unique, Design Registered solution to distribute pressure evenly, preventing friction at the tip of the shoulder and across the chest. Additionally, the rug features a 1680D Ballistic weave waterproof outer fabric with reflective safety strips, comfort thermos bonded padding and a silky soft nylon lining that is both anti-static and antibacterial.
The rug is also compatible with all LeMieux liners and includes a detachable neck.
Femke's experience with the LeMieux Kudos Turnout Rug 50gr:
"I got to go test the LeMieux Kudos turnout for HypoStore! The rug was delivered to my home the very next day. Upon opening the package, I was immediately excited, the rug felt mega strong, nicely finished and not heavy.
When putting it on I had to get used to the model. It falls a little low at the back to the beginning of the thigh. In use it is actually very nice, it covers more than other rugs and fits nicely around the horse's body without pinching. The tail flap is normal to fairly long, you can attach the tail flap to the tail by putting the tail through a loop that is attached to the tail flap.
The splits at the front are nice and the rug does not rub when walking or eating. As a result, he has not developed any chafing marks. Now that it is getting a little colder, I thought it was a good time to try out the neckpiece as well. You have to attach the neckpiece to the rug at four points. We even had one day of wind force 6/7 and even that day the neckpiece stayed in place. Furthermore, it is now the wettest time of the year, so we were able to test the waterproofing extensively and my horse Navito stayed completely dry under the rug. Navito has always rug size 195 and size 6.6 fits him just fine.
I have maybe 1 small critical point which I personally find unfortunate is that the neck piece only has a velcro closure. My young geldings are very playful with each other and once they pulled open one of the two Velcro straps but even then, the neckpiece stayed nicely in place.
As soon as my other horse needs a new rug it will also be a Kudos!"
