We are often asked what exactly is the difference between Bucas and Horseware rugs. These brands are actually incomparable because they have a completely different fit and use different materials.

Bucas
Bucas is known for their virtually indestructible horse rugs that can be used under the most extreme conditions. Bucas was founded in 1981 and today uses high-tech materials like ballistic nylon and their special QuickDry lining. If you want the best blanket for your horse and do not want to change your horse rug due to changing weather conditions or damage you choose a Bucas blanket!

The different types of rugs from Bucas:

Bucas power turnout
The Bucas Power Turnout rugs are made of super-strong ballistic nylon. The rugs can be used in a variety of temperatures thanks to the special lining and sun and heat reflective coating ( which explains the recognisable silver colour). Changing rugs is not necessary with these rugs in most cases! All Bucas Power Turnout rugs have the well-known Bucas Stay-Dry lining which wicks away moisture quickly and always ensures a dry horse. Even if the rug is put on while the horse is still wet!

Bucas Smartex
The Bucas Smartex rugs are made of super-strong ballistic nylon and come with a 3-year warranty. All Smartex rugs have the well-known Bucas Stay-Dry lining which wicks away moisture at lightning speed and always ensures a dry horse. Even if the rug is put on while the horse is still wet!

Bucas Therapy
The special and patented Recuptex fabric is integrated in the Bucas Recuptex, a special material that stimulates blood circulation in the body through magnetic fields. The Recuptex blanket ensures a better blood circulation and oxygen supply which, for example, can ensure:

Bucas Quilt Serie

Available with a 150g or 300g lining and two different linings. A Stay-dry, lining which will wick away moisture faster, and a Silk-feel smooth nylon lining, which helps prevent chafing.

Bucas Irish Serie
The Bucas Irish series blankets are waterproof and breathable. The blankets have a smooth lining and pleats at the shoulders for extra freedom of movement. The blankets feature a comfortable front and a covered front closure.

Bucas Green-Line
The Bucas Green-Line blankets are made from 100% environmentally friendly and recycled materials. One blanket from this series contains more than 100 recycled plastic bottles! The fact that the material is recycled does not affect the trusted Bucas quality. The Bucas Green-Line blankets have an excellent fit and are 100% waterproof and breathable!

Bucas Celtic Stable Rug
The Bucas Celtic Stable blankets are very strong, extremely durable and of excellent quality. These stable blankets have a polypropylene outer fabric and the Bucas anti-bacterial Stay-dry lining. The result is a blanket that can be used as a sweat blanket. A sweaty or wet horse will quickly become dry, the moisture is transported outside so the blanket does not need to be changed. The antibacterial lining keeps the blanket fresh and in good condition.

Bucas Power Cooler

Bucas Anniversary
De bucas Anniversary dekens zijn in twee types verkrijgbaar: Silk-Feel en Stay-Dry. Deze dekens hebben een 600 Denier buitenstof van sterk rip-stop polyester. De 0gr Stay Dry versie is een perfecte deken voor tussen de seizoenen door, wanneer de tempratuur nog erg aan het schommelen is.

Bucas Freedom Serie
The Freedom Turnout has a 600 Denier outer fabric and is available in several variants. The Light is suitable for both spring and autumn, without lining. For winter, there are the Medium with a 150-gram lining and the Extra with a 300-gram lining. Two versions of the Freedom Turnout are available: the Classis Cut and a blanket with a neck; the Full Neck. In the Freemdom Turnout Full Neck Medium and Extra versions, the neck has a lining of 150 grams.

Horseware
Horseware rugs are produced in Ireland with attention to detail and high quality materials. Horseware constantly strives to produce the best and have become a leading manufacturer. Horseware rugs are tested for a minimum of one year before they hit the shelves, in many cases they are tested for up to three years. The rugs are also tested on a minimum of 20 horses before they hit the market. Rambo rugs are made of ballistic nylon, a fabric first developed for bulletproof vests worn by airmen in World War II.

The different types of rugs from Horseware:

Rambo
Horseware's first model is the Rambo rug. These super strong rugs are available in several models. The Rambo outer blankets are made of 1000 D Ballistic Nylon. This is super strong material and almost impossible to break! Ballistic Nylon is also used for bulletproof vests. This is the outer layer of such a vest. The inner lining of the Rambo rugs are made of polyester. This is anti bacterial, does not become static and makes your horse shine under the rugs. The filling is called ''thermobonded fibrefill''. This means that the filling always stays airy and is equally warm in all places. Even if your horse lies down and gets a pressure point in the filling, when the rugs lies down again the pressure point pulls out too!

All Rambo blankets feature three cross surcingles and a 'V' front closure. Because of the softer inner lining, the Rambo rugs will not chafe at shoulders or withers. The Rambo stable rugs are made of 1000 D Ripstop material. This ensures that a hole in the fabric does not tear through further.

Rhino
The Rhino outdoor rugs all feature special technology to make the rug waterproof. The rugs are made up of 4 layers:

Strong outer fabric - The outer is made of a rock-solid polypropylene fabric. This fabric is 2 times stronger than the commonly used polyester fabric. This fabric is water-repellent. Drops stay on the rug and are not absorbed by the fabric.
Waterproof fabric in the middle - The waterproof coating (Aquatrans) is not applied to the outer layer of the rug but to the layer underneath. This keeps the coating intact and prevents it from being damaged by external influences. Waterproofing is guaranteed!
Comfortable on the inside - Under the waterproof layer, the rug is filled with a thermobonded fabric. With the exception of unlined rugs.
Polyester lining - The lining of the Rhino rugs are antistatic and antibacterial so that your horse's coat shines beautifully and feels soft.

Amigo Bravo
The Amigo Bravo 12 blankets are very strong and versatile blankets, the Bravo 12 is available in many different versions. The standard Bravo 12 is an outdoor blanket without a neck. The Plus version comes standard with a neck. The Amigo Bravo XL versions are specially made for wider horses. Furthermore, Bravo 12 blankets have a smooth polyester lining, mounting points for the liner system and reflective stripes at the chest and tail flap.

Amigo Hero
The Amigo Hero 900 blanket with the new 900D fabric! This blanket is very light weight and extremely breathable. The Amigo Hero 900 is made of 900D air conditioned polyester fabric. This means that in the production process under a large amount of pressure air is pressed through fabric, making the blanket very strong, exceptionally breathable, lightweight and still 100% waterproof. In addition, the Hero 600D is now available, these blankets are made of 600D polyester and have an attractive price.
